 A Note from the Principal...

We are off to a great start to the school year!  We had a fantastic first week of school at Meachem! Students worked on learning the routines of school and their classrooms while making new friends.

I want to thank all of our Meachem families for your continued support and patience as we worked through the beginning of the year transportation bumps. Our buses are arriving earlier each day. Our first priority is getting our students to and from school safely.

Mark Your Calendar: Meachem Curriculum Night

Our Meachem Curriculum Night will be held on Thursday, September 22nd from 6:00- 7:30.  This will be a good time to connect with your child's teacher and to learn about curriculum, expectations and the structure of a school day.

September's Life Skill: Respect

Each month Meachem has a different life skill to support character education.  Each Monday, the students watch a video on the life skill and have discussions around it at Morning Meeting each day.  

This month's life skill is 'Respect.'  Teaching respect in the classroom is a critical element of classroom management. Respect is characterized by a feeling of sincere admiration for someone or something brought about by qualities they possess, their abilities, or their achievements. Simply put, respect is the regard with which we hold other people, and it’s demonstrated through our responses to others, through our intentions and thoughts for other people.

Meachem Spirit Wear

From September 9th- September 25th Meachem has an online sale of Meachem Spirit Wear.  Please go to  http://bit.ly/MeachemWear to order.  You can set up delivery to your home (shipping fee applies).  If you selected ‘free local pickup’ the school will pick up the orders and call families when they arrive at the school (no shipping fee).

PAX Leaders of the Week

Each week classroom teachers choose one student per grade level that exhibit PAX characteristics of being 'Peaceful, Productive, Healthy and Happy' while they are here at Meachem.  This award is given to students that consistently follow the Meachem expectations and to students that have significant improvements in following expectations.  The PAX leader is recognized each Monday at our school-wide morning assembly and is celebrated throughout the week.  

Attendance Reminder

In order for your child to get everything they need at school they need to be here everyday, all day (unless they are sick).  Our school day is from 9:20- 3:35, our doors open at 9:05.  Please make sure you are doing your best to get your child here everyday.
