A Note from the Principal...
October was another great month for Meachem Elementary students. The 26th marked the end of the first marking period; it seems like it went by so fast this year. On Tuesday, November 8th we welcome families in for Parent Teacher Conferences. If you can not make your scheduled appointment, please contact your child's teacher to reschedule. Teachers are prepared to discuss your child's report card and how your child is doing at school.
On October 31st, students enjoyed a parade around the neighborhood. It was so nice to see how many families came to watch the parade and join in on the classroom parties that followed.
Thank you to all the parents that are abiding by our visiting policy and signing in when entering the building. Keeping your children safe at school is our number one priority.
Please continue to support our Schoolwide Expectations on being Peaceful, Productive, Healthy and Happy. Talking to your child about school expectations is a great way to reinforce appropriate school behaviors.
November Food Drive
This month's life skill is 'Empathy.' Empathy means feeling or understanding how someone else feels. When a student is empathic it helps them get along with others, which allows for strong relationships and more focus on learning.
PAX Leaders of the Week
Each week classroom teachers choose one student per grade level that exhibit PAX characteristics of being 'Peaceful, Productive, Healthy and Happy' while they are here at Meachem. This award is given to students that consistently follow the Meachem expectations and to students that show significant improvements in following expectations. The PAX leader is recognized each Monday at our school-wide morning assembly and is celebrated throughout the week.

One School, One Book: Wish Tree
We are so excited to let you all know that students are loving our schoolwide book- Wishtree. The One School, One Book grant, allows schools to select a book to read together. Each Meachem student received a copy to read at home with their family last month. At school, our students have been celebrating and exploring the novel with their classmates. This essential strategy reinforces reading instruction, increases parental involvement, bridges the home-school connection, and builds a true community of readers. We will finish the book this month and have a 'wish tree' of our own.
Meachem Spirit Wear
Don't forget every Friday is Meachem Spirit Wear Day to communicate how much we care about our Meachem Community.
Caught Being Kind Cards
Each day at Meachem we celebrate kindness on the morning announcements. The teachers recognize students that are 'caught' doing random acts of kindness with a 'Caught Being Kind' card. Please ask your child if they have been recognized yet!
